Concert Arena: Regine Velasquez-Alcasid's 25th Anniversary
Lastnight's concert was full of surprises, Asia's Songbird has shown her professionalism that despite her illness the show must go on ...
And I am sharing with you what had happened that unforgettable night for all of us with our own pride - Ms. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.
Early that night, fans and concert fanatics gather in MoA grounds to witness another history in the music industry including Kris Aquino, Mikee Coajuangco, Jennylyn Mercado, Eugene Domingo, John Lapuz, Christalle Henares, Aga Mulach, Zhazha Padilla, Vice Ganda, Mang Gerry and many other familiar faces I can't recognize (sorry).
Overture of Silver was a great start with "Narito Ako, Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigan Ka, Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw, I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, On The Wings of Love and Pangako" by the Manila Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and Raul Mitra on the piano.
Scream and shout of excitement echoed thru the wall of MoA Arena that night and was tripled when Regine Velasquez-Alcasid stood on stage in silver clothing singing the hippy song "Where have You Been All My Life" as the intro and was mixed with "Shine". And the crowd was outrageous begging for more.
Moreover, when she started to speak, there everyone noticed that her voice was harsh and she asked for an apology to everyone around. But even though she said "...dumugo man ang ilong ko, dumugo man ang lalamunan ko itutuloy ko ang pagdiriwang natin ng 25th years ko sa music industry..."
Her 1st three songs were "Kahit Ika'y Panaginip Lang", "Araw Gabi" & "Tuwing Umuulan" followed by "Dadalhin" (where she started to cry).
First guest to appear on stage was her husband, the Songwriter, Mr. Ogie Alcasid with "Hanggang Ngayon" (my favorite among her duets) then Janno Gibbs with "Magkasuyo Boung Gabi". Michael V came in with his very surprising and entertaining sing&dance number of "Gangnam Style" where we all laugh. Then the OJ production number of Ogie&Janno about Regine's life with their "Promdi" rendition. Then she sang heartily "In Your Eyes".
Regine felt she can't sing anymore, that's why she called Anton Diva who was in the crowd to sing with her the song "On The Wings Of Love" while she was being lifted up with a harness on her body. What a sight! Elegantly done. Anton who wasn't prepared that night was out of timing but still the voice was 99% similar of Regine. Anton Diva wowed the audience.
Lanie Misalucha, Asia's Nightingale sang a medley with her, "Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka", "Ikaw", "Pangako", "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" and again coda of "Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka".
And Lanie who was oozing with her new beauty touched the hearts of everyone with her rendition of "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin".
Regine came back with teary eyes and sincerely announced that she had throat infection and she wished to continue, here she said to have a free concert next month for everyone who had joined here that night.

"I expect you guys to "Boo" on me since I can't sing
and suffering from viral infection but I thank you for upbringing my spirit
to make the show go on and what's most important is you guys
being here for my 25th anniversary concert!
KEEP YOUR TICKETS! 'CAUSE I WILL SHOW YOU AGAIN GUYS HOW THIS SHOW SHOULD BE!'
She called her son NATE onstage and rendered another full of emotion rendition of "God Gave Me You" followed by "Leader Of The Band" with Mang Gerry on her right side.
An impromtu happened when she called Vice Ganda and John Lapuz on stage to cracked the sadness of everyone and she bid goodbye and said thank you.
The finale was "Shake your Groove Thing" and "Hot Stuff" with KC Montero rapping.
What a night. Though it was somehow sad still it was fulfilling and I felt joy as I witnessed a genuine performer who inspite of the odds still continued to please her spectators. I am proud I was there.
Thank you Regine, you're truly an inspiration to all !!!.
Praying for your fast recovery.

Concert Scene: Silver
Today at the MoA ground, Asia's Song Bird Regine Velasquez's will hold her 25th Anniversary in the music industry.
I'm sure everyone is excited as much as I do on this much anticipated concert that happens only once in a blue moon, like any other spectator I'm sure Asia's Nightingale Lani Misalaucha's prowess will also shine this night.
Duets & Solo's are to be unique and production numbers are as thrilling as it can be.
See you at MoA Arena.

PiCSToRY: Tanghalang Pilipino Book Launching
the Invitation
the Autograph signing
a Collage (the author, the cover photo, the book content)
Special thanks to Ma'am Cherry Bong Edralin.
CCP: Tanghalang Pilipino's WALANG KUKURAP
Layeta Bucoy's "WALANG KUKURAP" is an exposition of the malignant disease of our country, the corruption that leads to other social illness that everyone suffers the so called "plague of social jabberin (George Santaya).
"Walang Kukurap" is a vibrantly new and highly research-based contemporary play which blurs the lines between art and life/fiction and reality as it vivisects the darkest part of filipino soul. Holding no punches, it pounds away in search of answers, attacking the essence of corruption on a multiple levels from the blatant maneuvers of our country's politicians to the subtle compromising acts each of us often choose to take on a daily basis. It challenges us, philosophically, morally, and emotionally. It asks us not to just point our fingers at the monsters outside but also stare honestly in the mirror at ourselves in our homes.
"Walang Kukurap" is directed by Tuxqs Rutaquio said that
"that the challenge for me as director lies in making the town a character
itself, a town akin to Jose Rizal's San Diego - a microcosm of Philippine
society, a small unit embodies the different forms of corruption prevalent in
the whole archipelago."
I was fortunate enough to catch the last performance of this play at CCP's
Tanghalang Huseng Batute last night and mind you I was sitting two seats apart
form the honorary man in Philippine Literature Sir Bienvinido (whew!!!) anyway,
going back to "Walang Kukurap" the cast were so amazingly gifted on
their performances. They solidified the play according to it's intention. The
intensity of their acting in every act is noteworthy, really. I would rather
say exponentially outstanding.
SCENE 9
at Cristina's house
PAPANG (Cristina's father) begs Cristina to stop running for vice-mayor as the
deed is turning her into a monster. Cristina argues that she is doing this to
get money inorder to cure his tumor, pay-off's Mirra's law school and Aling
Panchang's monthly 50,000 demand. desperate to save his daughter, Papang's
kills himself infront of Cristina. (Regina De Vera) This is my favorite scene, I got teary-eyes on this act. Papang is played by
Mr. Lou Veloso and Cristina is Suzette Ranillo.
I have listed the complete cast for "Walang
Kukurap";
Suzette Ranillo & Sharmaine Suarez - Cristina
Mymy Davao - Melba
Pewee O' Hara - Panchang
Jonathan Tadion - Lu
Lou Veloso & Paulo Cabanero - Papang/Paquito

A Letter from PIONEER FILMS
It has come to the attention of Lionsgate that a pirated feature of “THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER” has now been available online, and also on pirated DVD’s, since 24 October 2012.
Upon checking by Technicolor Labs U.S., they found out that the source of piracy came from one of the theaters in Manila which Pioneer Films have provided with 35mm features.
The cinemas that were given 35mm features specifically include the ff:
Glorietta
Greenbelt 3
PowerPlant
Market-Market
Trinoma
Shangrila
Sta. Lucia Mall
Robinsons Galleria
Robinsons Ermita
Robinsons MetroEast
Shangri-La
Gateway Cinema
Alabang Town Center and
Filinvest Cinema
Therefore, the pirated source must have come from one of these theaters. We were not able to pinpoint the theater responsible for this leak because the prints were not numbered when it was delivered, which we admit, may have been our fault.
We hope that, in the future, cinemas will be more strict in providing security for films released in their theaters.
Lionsgate has threatened that, if piracy is not contained, they will no longer allow the Philippines to release films day-and-date with the U.S.. This will adversely affect our box office performance especially with big films such as “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2”.
We hope that with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2”, all cinemas will provide the best security so that this illegal activity will not happen again.
This is a very important matter and we should not take this problem lightly.
Regards,
Wilson Yuloque
