MMFF 2012: THY WoMB (An Extra-Ordinary Badjao Love Story)

"Nora Aunor is always in character during the shot of Thy Womb," ito ang mabilis na sagot ni direk Brillante Ma.

"We empower the minority and let them feel that they are part of our society and  how significant they are to our country," sambit ni direk Brillante sa isang simpleng pagtitipon kasama ang staffs and crews ng "THY WOMB" at mga piling panauhin sa isang magarang opisina sa Makati City.

    1. You know Mr. Armando Dela Cruz, You don't judge/rate/give merit to a film by watching the film director's other films. That is so stupid. You judge a film by watching it.

It doesn't follow that if one work by a film maker did not impress you (which, by the way, doesn't mean the film is not good; you may just have different taste for films and it takes a lot of years to actually appreciate art and good films) then all this other works are bad.

      Bobo ka lang. Good night.

Why not give it a try? Kapag hindi mo nagustuhan ang movie, you can refund from moi....hihihi

    8. I didn't even judged the film in this comment. :-) There's a huge difference between being circumspect and being an a**hole judging a film out of invalid sense. I'm a strong believer, I was the former and not the latter.

  2. Your loss, Armando deal Cruz! 8) And before you wag your smugness away, face yourself in the mirror and ask yourself: What does it take to be a crab?

  4. i saw the film, THY WOMB in Taipei, Taiwan where am based and was surprised to see an almost full house and with 95% Taiwanese audience. Actually, we're only 3 Pinoys-prior to Nov.16 screening, there was one held for bloggers/critics and some VIPs and it must have been raved so the full house showing that Friday. THY WOMB is a beautiful film sans sobbing and screaming so typical of Pinoy drama film-this one is quiet, yet profound. Especially, after the movie many issues are worth discussing (my husband and I did engage in some of them)...story's simple yet arresting; u may find some weak areas all right, but as a whole it's a great film. Nora Aunor has again given one great performance here in Thy Womb! Is it the fan in me? Nah...i say her film is not if it's not and this one is really, really nice. Like one Taiwanese blogger says, ..."I did not cry, but I felt pain in my every organ...", i felt the same...I did not cry a river, but I had lump on my throat and shed some tears nonetheless. Do not be affected by some comments-u have to see it yourself and be proud that there's one great Filipino film to remember by. Enjoy!

  5. You have the right to judge CAPTIVE because you already watched it but judging THY WOMB basing on your frustrations to CAPTIVE and not watching it is what we called plain STUPIDITY..

  7. Armando -- Please check your files again. Captive was not received well by many critics - both local and international . Not the case with Thy Womb. From the time it premiered at Venice up to Dubai where it is now competing againts Oscar frontrunners Amour and Master, it as been described as a great humanist film, among others. I have seen both films and I understand the negative reviews of Captive and I saw why many are positive about Thy Womb. If you will not watch Thy Womb, then one poster is right -- it's your loss.

  8. People should chill. :-) it has been a ritual for me not to put my hopes too high. I have been disappointed, and quite a lot. It's a smart move, if you ask me.

I have watched Thy Womb, and I gotta say, I was astounded. That was because I wasn't expecting anything much. (Read me review! http://thefilmpolice.blogspot.com/2012/12/mmff-review-thy-womb-is-laudable.html) See?? 'Captive' was bombed in many sense, and I did expected a lot from it, so...

P.S. One shan't trash someone who has some serious trust issues. :-) Loving your responses, anyway.
